Panasonic Older BluRay players will not do Netflix

I can not believe, with the coming soon sign I was sure Netflix would be available on older systems as soon as Panasonic had an agreement with Netflix.

Panasonic confirms older VieraCast products won't get Netflix, Skype

That little "Coming Soon" placeholder on the lower right of Panasonic's 2008 and 2009 VieraCast home pages won't say "Netflix" anytime soon.

The explanation from Panasonic is that the chip that handles VieraCast in the older models lacks the necessary embedded DRM (Digital Rights Management) code to enable compatibility with Netflix. That information is slightly more specific than what was said by Bob Perry, Senior VP at the company, in the latest update to his blog: "...due to the system requirement issues, Netflix cannot be added to pre-2010 models."

How To Get MobileMe For Free Using Google and Dropbox [How To]

MobileMe for Free.

iDisk

While I barely used iDisk, I did want to keep its functionality for the rare times I need it. My solution is Dropbox, an online storage service that offers 2GB of space for free (the same as the basic MobileMe storage solution). Just download the app to all your Macs and don’t forget to download the iPhone app. After that, the setup is a breeze. Dropbox adds a folder to the Finder that looks and works just like iDisk. Here it is below the Applications and Documents folder.

How to integrate Toodledo with Thunderbird

This is the code you need to add to error console, but I think that just using the WAT extension is a better option.
Code is below:
Components.classes['@mozilla.org/appshell/window-mediator;1'].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIWindowMediator).getMostRecentWindow("mail:3pane").document.getElementById("tabmail").openTab("contentTab", {contentPage: "http://www.toodledo.com/views/index.php"});

Toodledo

Working Thunderbird Integration

Insert the code found in this blog post into the Thunderbird 3 error console, replace the wave url with: "http://www.toodledo.com/views/index.php", and evaluate to get a session-persistent Toodledo tab.

Close the tab and you'll have to reopen it via the error console, but that's a small price to pay for the near-flawless utility it provides. Also works with Google Voice, Wave, and many other sites.
That code was a lifesaver for me until lifehacker wrote about WebApplicationTab

It's a persistent tab as well but more straightforward than the code in the error console, and easier to reopen if you close it.

I have mine set to a Netvibes page with Toodledo in one widget and Google calendar in another widget. Throw in some stylish scripts and the whole thing gets nice and streamlined and Netvibes practically disappears.

HP LaserJet Scan Problem on Mac OSX - FIX

I had an old HP Laserjet sitting around my office and decided to use it as a local printer/scanner. After installing all the software the scan would still not work. This has solved my problem, in fact, just the open with rosetta part was enough, just do not forget to close the app before trying to mark that box otherwise it will be gray out.

HP LaserJet Scan Problem – and its Fix

The HP LaserJet 3052 is a great piece of hardware, so long as you’re running it on Windows XP or Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). It wasn’t ready for Vista, although drivers were eventually updated to fully support its feature set. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Leopard didn’t quite like it, either.

  • Upon reboot, navigate to your Applications | HP LaserJet Software | Scan folder through Finder – and there you’ll find the ‘HP Scan’ app.
  • Select the ‘HP Scan’ app’s icon, then hit Command+I (a keyboard shortcut to pull up it’s Info pane.
  • Look for the option marked ‘Open using Rosetta’ and place a checkmark in the box.
  • The HP Scan application should now work in Leopard. Don’t ask me why this workaround works, but at least it works – and I’m not sure where HP stands on updates.
