If Niagara 3 is an army of guys with shovels, POWER7 is a giant bulldozer. Sun's 1 billion-transistor, 16-core Niagara 3 processor is a great example of modern multiprocessor-turned-SoC (system on a chip). Everything about this design is focused on pushing large numbers of parallel instruction streams and data streams through the processor socket at once. IBM's POWER7 Sun's Niagara is aimed at networked server operations where lots of simultaneous, lightweight requests have to be serviced—databases, Web servers, and the like. In contrast, POWER7 has the horsepower to grind through a smaller number of more compute-intensive tasks at a high rate of speed Both parts have their place in the server ecosystem of 2010.

Windows 7 Audio problems on Virtual Box

This has solved Windows 7 VM audio problems and now Windows 7 audio is working fine on Virtual Box running on my Mac OS

After some time of searching the net, I was finally able to get sound working in my virtual Vista Ultimate x64 install. All that I had to do was install a driver for the VirtualBox virtual soundcard hardware. No reboot was necessary. 1. I went to http://www.realtek.com.tw 2. I clicked on "Downloads", then on "AC'97 Audio Codecs". On the downloads page I downloaded the file with the description "Vista/Win7 (32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)". 3. Once downloaded, I extracted the files and pointed the Device Manager driver installer to the "6303_Vista_Win7_PG537\6303_Vista_PG537\Vista64" folder. It found the driver and proceeded with installation. Once it was done the Device Manager refreshed itself and showed the sound card as installed and working.

You go slower and burn less fuel, or you go faster and burn more fuel (all else being equal). This is why it is impressive that Mr. Savier won this year's Fuelventure 400 in his modified VariEze (originally designed by the famous Burt Rutan) by getting 45 MPG at 207 MPH, and this with two people on board (and for those wondering, there were no massive tailwinds or anything of the sort). Savier has altered his Vari-EZ and its Continental 0-200 engine by adding computerized fuel injection and ignition systems of his own design. He typically flies at 190 KTAS while getting a Prius-like 50 miles per gallon. If he slows to extend range, Savier's mileage approaches 100 miles per gallon.

B&N Nook and Amazon Kindle Killer

this could be a good proposition to replace current Nook or the Amazon Kindle e-book reader. The only missing piece is the content provider.

B&N eBook Reader - Nook

I would buy one for Christmas if it had a browser. Not sure how far B&N is from a more intelligent device though. Nook runs Google Android, has WiFi access (free at B&N stores), allow downloads over-the-air using AT&T 3G network (access is included in the price of the device), has USB and its memory can be expanded by using a mini-SDCard. To me, it looks like an iPhone with a bigger display! (I am sure Apple has one in the works...)
