Microsoft's Cloud Office

Google has a head start over MS on this one but has also another advantage, they understand the need to support all platform/browser combination. You can only use Office Live if you are running "major" OSs: Microsoft or Max OS, no Linux or Unix (Solaris) support.

Microsoft's cloud Office lands one million users

That's one-tenth of Google Apps then...

One million customers have signed up to Microsoft's Office Live Workspace online collaboration tool, six months after its beta launch.

In comparison, Google's online collaboration technology, Google Apps, has secured 10 million active users two years after its release.
